Tropical Storm Katia To Develop Explosively, CNN
BY ALICIA CRUZ NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM Tropical Depression 12 upgraded to Tropical Storm Katia at 4:53 a.m. carrying maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour as she swirls west-southwest of the southern portion of the Cape Verde Islands and moving West near 17 mph. CNN forecasters say they expect to see Katia “develop explosively” as her current track will take the system over warm ocean temperatures and light shear. Katia’s track, at the current time, is just north of Irene.
