Finding Julian

Cotto loses his son in a museum—and finds a new approach to being a good dad. By Andrew Cotto Upon hearing that our second child would be a boy, I walked out of the doctor’s office, crossed 8th Avenue, and stepped into a Mexican restaurant to drink something with tequila in it. Then I drank another. My wife would have joined in the drinking, but she was far enough along in the pregnancy for a penis to show up on a sonogram. So, I drank, and she inhaled corn chips with guacamole. We knew that mommies and daddies can make both little girls and little boys, but... MORE

He does not subscribe to your everyday idea of optimism and pessimism — instead simply has a hope for tomorrow. The feeling is everywhere within this song from it’s cultural beat to it’s African/English blend of lyrics. Inspirational to say the least. From his 1999 Album “Papa”. Source

Accept it! He Just Might Be a Good Man, That Actually Likes You

Image
Has this ever happened to you: A fine brother approaches you (at a bar, a party, wherever) and starts chatting you up. He's smart, handsome, and he's funnier than any comedian. You get that feeling in your stomach and feel like he's someone you could really enjoy getting to know. He asks for your number, and you oblige him only to think, "What'd I do that for. He's not going to call me. The fine ones always say they will, but they don't." Then he ACTUALLY calls! Not only that, but he wants to go out on a date. Not those after 10 p.m. dates either, but a REAL date. You two dine at a cool restaurant, converse about everything under the sun, you laugh for hours, and at the end of the night, he's content with a kiss. What?! But instead of enjoying and savoring the moment, you translate the evening into a disaster in the making and convince yourself that you'll never hear from him again." But to your surprise, he calls the next day, telling you...

Tracy Chapman: 'Crossroads'

Image
Have you ever actually listened to the words in Tracy Chapman's song, Crossroads"? Makes so much sense when you actually read the words and think about what she's saying. Not all of us have a price tag hanging from our necks. And sometimes, the things in life that can be bought but shouldn't be, come with a price far too costly to ever be worth the struggle and pain that follows. Think about that... Tracy Chapman in Crossroads All you folks think you own my life But you never made any sacrifice Demons they are on my trail I'm standing at the crossroads of the hell I look to the left I look to the right There're hands that grab me on every side All you folks think I got my price At which I'll sell all that is mine You think money rules when all else fails Go sell your soul and keep your shell I'm trying to protect what I keep inside All the reasons why I live my life Some say the devil be a mystical thing I say the devil he a walking man He a fool he ...

Image
A Memphis man who claimed he accidentally killed his new bride when he tripped and fell causing the weapon to fire and hit his wife in the head, has been found guilty of first-degree murder, The Commercial Appeal reported. James Britt was widowed a month after exchanging "I do's" with new wife, Jennifer Grosser-Britt the night he readily admitted that he shot his 24-year-old wife two years ago in their Nutbush home, but he told police his gun went off accidentally when he tripped in the bedroom after searching outside for a prowler. "When I came back inside, I had to go around the heater to let her know I couldn't catch nobody and that's when I tripped and slammed face first into the gun and it went off," Britt said in his statement that was read to the jury.
