In The Shadow of The Levees Post Katrina

CNN.COM --When Sonya Hill opens the door of her rebuilt shotgun house in the Lower 9th Ward she faces a reminder of the devastation Katrina brought. Directly across from her house is the spot where the levee broke five years ago.

It has since been rebuilt and sits higher than before the storm. It is an impressive wall of gray concrete meant to offer protection from future storms, but for Sonya Hill it is a reminder of everything that can go wrong.

“Looking at that wall, I’m thinking what if it breaks again? What if it breaks right in front of my door and I’m inside with my kids? I don’t feel safe back here if a hurricane comes through,” she says.

For A Third Time, Takesha Rogers Breaches Rochester Airport

                                     TheCrimeBeat  December 13, 2024 Takesha Rogers ,  faces charges, for the third time, after allegedly entering a restricted area at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. Rogers, 39, has breached airport security  in May 2022 and April 2023, receiving time served and a year in prison. I n May 2023, Rogers admitted climbing over a fence at the Rochester Airport and willfully entered the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA), which is a restricted area, on four separate occasions.  In April 2023, Rogers again attempted to evade the security requirements at the Rochester Airport, climb a fence, and enter the AOA.  This recent incident began 11:30 AM , November 27, 2024, where she again entered AOA at the Rochester Airport. Courtney Fowler is pleading for help from the community as the search for her missing sister continued. Sterlina Bland, 46, of Raleigh, NC Photo/Facebook According to a WRAL article , Sterlina Bland's mental health further deteriorated after she contracted COVID-19 in February 2022. Fowler says before she disappeared  from her Ranch Mill Circle home Sterlina stopped responding to texts and phone calls but then on September 23, she just vanished along with her burgundy 4-door Ford, bearing license plate JBW6141.  Her heartbroken son, Jayden just wants his mother back home. Similar to Sterlina's Burgundy Ford “She loves her son to pieces. Why would she leave?
