'Son of Sam' Not Seeking Parole in 2012
The man who paralyzed New Yorkers with fear during the summer of 1977, David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz announced he would not seek parole in 2012. Known as the .44 Caliber killer after he embarked on killing spree that targeted young women with long, brown hair, Berkowitz claimed the lives of six and injured seven. Since his June 1978 conviction he has been serving six life sentences or a maximum sentence of 365 years in prison originally starting out at Attica.
