Investigators announced the increase of a reward being offered for anyone with information concerning the murder of a Chicago honor student killed last month after performing at President Barack Obama's second inauguration.
The reward, now at $24,000, is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the shooting death of Hadiya Pendleton.
Police believe members of a rival gang may have mistaken Pendleton, 15 and majorette, for a gang banger. The teen was a rising star with no criminal record, say police.
Pendleton was amongst classmates in the Kenwood neighborhood when she was shot in the back. Another teen was injured. Police say the shooter fled the park after the shooting and jumped into a White Nissan.
Her shooting death became the subject of a recent discussion on gun control. Read more HERE
